Link Exchange

I am more than happy to exchange quality links with other quality sites preferably related to the real estate industry.

This is a reciprocal link exchange, so if you want to see your link featured here in my roster you must include a link to the location on your site where I can see my link back to http://www.elkhartcountylistings.com

Reciprocal Link Directions

Please read this before requesting a link exchange!

To be considered for reciprocal linking by providing a link from your web site to my web site is only if you can truly provide a reciprocal link, which means if that link can be found by search engines. If your page is not indexed by Google, do not waste your time!

****** To avoid wasting your time it is recommended that you read this entire page so you understand the reciprocal link process!

*If you have a template site - you likely do not have a search engine friendly links page and would not be eligible for link exchange. You may be eligible for consideration if you do not have the link opening in a frame due to the scripting used by template site companies - use your providers "no frames" option if they have one .

You can provide my text link to us from any page within your web site. This is only an option if you have a search-engine-friendly web site that is capable of being spidered by search engines for inclusion in their search results.

Very Very Important! This page must actually be a part of your web site which means the url of the page must be from your domain. This excludes some of the link building programs used by some Realtors which use a links page located on another web site. This page within your web site must also be indexed by search engines and be included in Google's database . This may exclude some web site pages where the pages have been dynamically generated. The link itself must be indexed (not using javascript or cgi).

Please Check If Your Links Page Is Indexed: You can check if the page you intend on placing my link on is in Google by placing your mouse over the links page, right-clicking, and choosing "Properties" from the resulting menu. This brings up a box with the actual page url. Now that you know the page's real url, first check and make sure it is from the same domain as your site - it may be from a links management program.

If it is from the same domain, copy the actual page name and go to Google and paste it in the search box - "http://www.yourdomain.com/pagename.html" where "http://www.yourdomain.com/pagename.html" is the page name you just copied in the previous step.

* Please note, do not use the Google Toolbar to do this as it will take you to the page whether it is listed or not. You need to paste the url into the search box at Google.com and not into the search box on the Toolbar!

This command will show whether Google has the page included in its index. If the page is not found your page does not appear to be included in Google's index.

If you can't find the page you wish to place the link on in Google then you can place my link on another page that is indexed by Google - or you can try submitting your page using Google's ADD URL feature and then check back with Google in about a month & see if the page has been included in Google's index.

Two more possible issues which may exclude your link exchange request.

One: If your page is dynamically generated using session IDs, Google may index your page but will not follow any of the links on the page making any links on the page worthless as a reciprocal link. Look at this url - it should be written in standard html. If the url has any non-text characters in it - specifically question marks '?' or equal signs '=' then the links contained on that page can't be followed to the web site and does not meet the inclusion criteria.

Two: This is rare but may cause your link not to meet the inclusion criteria. If after careful examination we determine that your website has likely been penalized by Google with their PR0 penalty -i.e a domain that is more than 6 months old, that previously had Page Rank (seen using the Google Toolbar), lost it all and now shows up for no searches or shows up with just the URL listed in Google - your site would be deemed to not meet the inclusion criteria. We need to do this in order to protect our site and our existing link partners as Google also penalizes innocent sites just for linking to penalized sites. In case you were not aware, the PR0 penalty is usually given to domains that participate in linking schemes that Google deems to be against their guidelines and the effect of the penalty is usually permanent.

How To Check If The Links Themselves Are Indexable: This next step is especially important for template sites! One other thing to check is the actual links themselves on the links page where the link would reside. When you place your mouse over one of the links to a Realtor listed on the page, you will see the actual url the link points at in the status bar of the browser window.

Look at this url - it should be written in standard html. If the url has any non-text characters in it like question marks '?' or equal signs '=' then the links are written using scripting that can't be followed to the web site. There is no benefit from such a link. Such links do not meet the criteria for inclusion.

Below is the suggested code which you may cut and paste into your web site if you wish.

Once you have determined that your links page is in Google's index and you have placed the link on the page, email us including the url of the page where you placed the link and once we verify that the link has been installed we will email back with instructions for adding your listing to the directory.

*We reserve the right to refuse any listing with or without a reason.

Below is my link information to put on your site, After you have added my link to your site please email me with the web page address that you put my link along with your information. I'll need your city & state along with your link in a similar format as below. I'll evaluate your site and if you are approved I will add your link to my web site within 7 days.
